iOS: Selftapes Encode Sideways / Electronic Slates Unreadable

We’re aware of an issue affecting some iOS users where selftapes may encode sideways and the electronic slate is unreadable.

​

Our team is actively investigating. Early findings suggest this may be related to videos recorded using the front (selfie) camera on iPhone 17 models (and possibly other devices).

​

What to do

If you’re experiencing this issue, it will appear when viewing your video in the Preview Timeline.

​

We recommend:

  1. Recording a short test selftape

  2. Adding it to the timeline

  3. Previewing the video before finalizing

 

If the preview displays correctly, the final encoded selftape should also be fine.
